LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell volleyball posted a second consecutive Patriot League win and bumped its overall and conference records over .500 with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-18) win over visiting Lafayette at Davis Gym on Friday night. The Bison hit .356 as a team, led by four players with at least six kills and better than a .350 hitting percentage.

The Bison improved to 8-7 overall and 2-1 in the Patriot League, adding the win over Lafayette to their 3-1 victory over Colgate at Davis Gym last week. The Leopards saw their record go to 3-12 overall and 1-2 in the conference.

It was the most balanced attack of the season for Bucknell, with sophomore Mimi Richards leading the team in kills with 10 and total blocks with eight. A trio of players hit better than .400 in the match, including junior Blake Buchholz with nine kills and a .421 hitting percentage. Senior Celeste Barker tallied seven kills on .455 hitting, and senior Hailey Stout finished with six kills, no errors, and a .429 hitting percentage.

Senior Stefanie Alpert contributed five kills, while freshman Anna Carroll came in for the third set and had two on just three attacks.

The team rotated a pair of setters and both put their teammates in good position to finish. Senior Luz Nagle and freshman Alexa Bonanno each tallied 17 assists. Bonanno added three aces, all coming consecutively to help the Bison take a 19-16 lead and pull away in the second set.

Bucknell registered seven aces in the match. Buchholz and Richards had two apiece.

Defensively, sophomore Brooke Stark led the way with 14 digs.

Bucknell held Lafayette to a .143 hitting percentage. Carly Kutschke was a bright spot for the Leopards, finishing with 12 kills on .364 hitting.

The Bison have won seven of the past eight matches against the Leopards.

Up next for Bucknell as it looks for three straight league wins for the first time since winning its final three matches of the 2015 season, is a match at Lehigh. The contest is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday.
