ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Bucknell played a team with a long winning streak for the second straight match Saturday, falling to first-place Navy 3-0 (25-8, 25-15, 25-19) in a Patriot League volleyball matchup at Wesley A. Brown Field House.
Navy, which improved to 16-3 overall and a perfect 6-0 in the Patriot League, upped its winning streak to seven matches while also improving to an unblemished 8-0 at home this season. Bucknell saw its record fall to 8-9 overall and 2-3 in the conference.
The Mids finished with a .326 hitting percentage, led by Katie Patrick with nine kills on .692 hitting. Tara Dotzauer recorded a team-high 10 kills with a .381 hitting percentage, while Maddi Sgattoni contributed nine kills on .333 hitting.
Patricia Mattingly assisted on 33 of Navy’s 39 kills. Sydney Shearn did her part with 13 digs.
Bucknell did manage to get six blocks against the team that allows the fewest blocks in the Patriot League. Senior Celeste Barker paced the Bison with three block assists. She also had three kills and no errors on just four attacks.
Bucknell will look to even its overall and conference record when it travels to Loyola on Sunday at 2 p.m., for a battle between two of the most improved teams in the league. The Greyhounds recently knocked off Army West Point and Colgate on back-to-back days.
