HAMILTON, N.Y. – Colgate took momentum with a 30-28 win in the first set and then went on to win 3-1 (30-28, 21-25, 25-17, 25-20) over Bucknell in a Patriot League volleyball match Friday at Cotterell Court.
Bucknell led 24-21 in the first set after an ace by junior Blake Buchholz, but couldn’t close it out. Colgate scored the next four points to gain the advantage. The teams then went back-and-forth until the Raiders went up 1-0 in the match after a block by Jaelah Hutchison and Lauren Sanderson.
Sophomore Sophie Bullard did her part for the Bison in the first set, tallying seven kills.
That first set proved pivotal as Bucknell would have had a chance to go up 2-0 after winning 25-21 in the second set. Buchholz had four kills in the set for the Bison.
Bullard recorded a double-double with 17 kills and 11 digs. Senior Hailey Stout just missed one with 11 kills and nine digs, while Buchholz wasn’t far behind with seven kills and 10 digs. Sophomore Brooke Stark added to her team lead in aces with two.
Alli Lowe had 20 kills to lead four Colgate players in double-figures. The Raiders had five players with double-digit digs, led by Katie Stansbury with 17.
Bucknell dropped to 10-11 overall and 4-5 in the Patriot League, while Colgate improved to 12-9 overall and 3-6 in the conference. The teams split the season series.
The Bison will look to even their records when they travel to play Army West Point on Saturday at 7 p.m.
