LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell baseball head coach Scott Heather has announced his 2017 schedule Wednesday, which features four games against Big Ten programs and non-conference home series against Cornell and St. Bonaventure.

“We are excited about this year’s schedule as it should be a competitive schedule highlighted by four games against Big Ten schools,” said Heather. “It should be a challenging non-conference slate, but one we feel will prepare us for league play.”

The Bison open the year by traveling south for the first five weekends. Bucknell travels to Cary, North Carolina for a neutral site three-game series against Marist (Feb. 18-19) before going to Lexington, Virginia for a three-game set at VMI (Feb. 24-26).

Bucknell’s first tournament will come in the first weekend in March, when it travels to Davidson. The Bison will take on the host-school Wildcats Mar. 3, followed by matchups with Butler (Mar. 4) and Hartford (Mar. 5).

The Bison will travel to Port Charlotte, Florida for seven days beginning on Mar. 11. Bucknell will complete against Iowa (Mar. 11), Northeastern (Mar. 12), Harvard (Mar. 14), defending Big Ten champion Ohio State (Mar. 15), and wrap up with a three-game series against UMass (Mar. 16-18).

Bucknell’s Patriot League schedule begins Apr. 1-2 at Lehigh. The Bison have home Patriot League series against Army West Point (Apr. 8-9) and Lafayette (Apr. 15-16), while traveling to Holy Cross (Apr. 22-23) and defending champion Navy (Apr. 29-30).

Bucknell’s midweek schedule includes home games against St. Joseph’s (Mar. 22), Cornell (Mar. 25-26), Binghamton (Apr. 5) and St. Bonaventure (Apr. 18), while traveling for midweek road games at Penn State (Mar. 21, Apr. 11) and Towson (Apr. 25).

The 2017 Patriot League Tournament will begin May 13-14 with a best-of-three semifinal series, followed by a best-of-three championship series May 19-20.  The NCAA Regionals will take place June 1-3, at campus sites across country.

Bucknell finished 18-34 overall and 8-12 in league play last season, reaching the Patriot League Tournament for the seventh time in the last nine years. The Bison return First Team All-Patriot League selections Sam Clark (3B) and Brett Smith (CF).
