ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Patriot League Tournament bound Bucknell baseball team wrapped up its regular season on Sunday, losing both games of a doubleheader at Navy. The Midshipmen took the opening contest 6-1, and won the nightcap by an 11-1 score.
Bucknell finishes the regular season 19-26 overall with a 10-10 record in Patriot League play, its most league wins since 2014. The Bison will be the No. 4 seed in the upcoming Patriot League Tournament.
Navy improves to 36-14 overall and wraps up league play with a 16-4 record, winning the Patriot League regular season title for the third consecutive year. The Mids will be the No. 1 seed in the tournament and host the Bison in the semifinals for the second straight season.
The Bison will return to Annapolis for a best-of-three semifinal series, scheduled for May 13-14. The series will broadcast on the Patriot League Network.
Game 1: Navy 6, Bucknell 1
Navy scored the first two runs of the contest in the third inning and plated four more in the sixth inning, fueled by a three-run homer.
The Bison scored their lone run in the fourth inning, a leadoff home run from Rawlings, his fourth of the year.
Bucknell left five runners on base in the game. Jeff Gottesman (3-4) was credited with the loss.
Game 2: Navy 11, Bucknell 1
Navy scored in six of its eight frames. The Mids got on the board with one run in the second inning, while scoring two in the third inning, three in the fourth inning, two in the sixth and seventh innings, and one more in the eighth inning.
Bucknell's lone run came in the ninth inning, a RBI single from Luke Johnson.
Jack Grabek (2-7) was charged with the loss.
