LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell freshman JohnPaul Bell was named Patriot League Baseball Rookie of the Week, announced by the league office on Tuesday. Bell went 4-for-15 with three runs scored in helping the Bison to a 2-1 weekend at Davidson.
The rookie outfielder hit in every game to extend his hit streak to four games.
Batting leadoff, Bell recorded a hit in the team’s 8-0 win over Davidson. In a contest against Butler, he went 1-for-4 with one run scored while drawing one walk. He finished off the weekend with a two-hit performance against Hartford, scoring two runs and stealing one base to help Bucknell rally back for a 9-5 decision.
Bell is hitting .333 in six games for the Bison, good for third on the team.
Senior infielder Sam Clark was an honorable mention. The Preseason All-Patriot League honoree went 6-for-14 with three runs scored, three RBIs and one home run. Clark had at least one hit in every game last week to extend his hitting streak to six games.
The Bison will make its annual spring break trip down to Port Charlotte, Florida, on Mar. 11-18. The Bison will play seven games, including two against Big Ten schools and three games with Massachusetts.
