LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell senior center Nana Foulland added yet another major award to his already impressive resume on Wednesday when he was named 2018 Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Foulland was joined on the five-man Academic All-Patriot League Team by classmate Stephen Brown.

A year ago, Foulland was named the Patriot League Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, and earlier this week he earned his third All-Patriot League citation with a First Team selection. Foulland joins former Bison star Mike Muscala as the only players in league history to win Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors in a career. Muscala swept all three awards in 2013.

Foulland, a Patriot League Academic Honor Roll student with a 3.26 cumulative grade-point average in history, is now a three-time Academic All-Patriot League Team selection. He is averaging a career-best 15.6 points per game while shooting 60.3 percent from the field. He also grabs 6.9 rebounds and blocks 1.7 shots per game.

Foulland ranks fourth in school history with 1,707 career points. That is also the highest total in the nation among all active centers. He also ranks third in school history in career blocked shots (205), third in field-goal percentage (.583) and fifth in rebounds (877).

Brown is also a Patriot League Academic Honor Roll student with a 3.26 GPA in psychology. He was recently named to the All-Patriot League First Team after earning Second Team honors as a junior and Third Team honors as a sophomore.

A standout point guard for the last four years, Brown has rounded out his game by becoming one of the league’s top scorers this season. His average of 15.4 points per game in league play ranks sixth in the PL, and his 14.3 overall scoring average ranks 11th. He is also third in the league in assists per game (4.3) and assist-to-turnover ratio (2.3).

Brown has scored in double digits in 17 straight games and 27 of 31 this season. That includes a career-high seven 20-point games. Brown’s 1,225 career points rank 20th in Bucknell history, and in Saturday’s win at American he moved past Pat Flannery into third place on the career assists chart with 508.

Since the inception of the Academic All-Patriot League Team in 2011, Bucknell has now had at least one selection in seven of the eight years, and multiple selections five times. Foulland and Brown were joined on this year’s team by Lafayette’s Eric Stafford and Lehigh’s Pat Andree and Jordan Cohen.

Foulland is Bucknell’s 11th Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year in men’s basketball in the 28-year history of the league and the first since Muscala in 2013.

Bucknell will begin Patriot League Tournament play in the quarterfinal round on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Sojka Pavilion. The top-seeded Bison will take on eighth-seeded Loyola. The game will be televised on Stadium TV and will stream on the Patriot League Network at PatriotLeague.tv.
