LEWISBURG, Pa. – Sophomore Kaitlyn Slagus has earned a pair of awards after stuffing the stat sheet in Bucknell’s 77-66 win over Cleveland State in non-conference women’s basketball action Sunday at Sojka Pavilion. On Monday, Slagus was named the The Rock Patriot League Player of the Week, as well as the Fifth Quarter Fresh Bison Athlete of the Week.
Slagus helped the Bison improve to 7-3 overall and win their 15th consecutive game at home, tallying 17 points, 14 rebounds, five blocks, three assists, and two steals. She had a double-double in the first half alone with 11 points and 10 boards.
The Patriot League leader in rebounds, Slagus is the only player in the conference averaging a double-double with 14.0 points and 10.3 boards. No Bucknell player has averaged a double-double for an entire season since Desire Almind recorded 17.3 points and 13.4 rebounds during the 2003-04 season.
Slagus has received two Patriot League Player of the Week awards during her career, with the other coming during her rookie season. The Bison have earned the award twice this season, including Sune Swart following the opening week of the season.
Bucknell wraps up the non-conference portion of its schedule with a game against Manhattan on Tuesday. The game is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Sojka Pavilion.
