LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell junior Kaitlyn Slagus has been voted The Rock Patriot League Player of the Week after registering a pair of double-doubles and leading the Bison women’s basketball team to wins over Rider and Akron over the weekend.
Slagus, who posted the 14th and 15th double-doubles of her career, has now been named the Patriot League Player of the Week five times in her first three seasons.
In a 76-71 win at Rider in the season opener, Slagus tallied 14 points and 11 rebounds. She followed that with a 20-point, 15-rebound performance in a 63-52 victory over Akron at Sojka Pavilion.
Slagus earned the award in a competitive field after the Patriot League had an outstanding opening weekend of play. The 10 teams combined to go 10-3 and had eight teams come out of the weekend unscathed.
Bucknell puts its 29-game home winning streak on the line when it hosts Saint Joseph’s on Wednesday at 6 p.m. The Hawks scored 93 points in a season-opening win over Niagara on Sunday.
