LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell’s Kaitlyn Slagus has been named The Rock Patriot League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday. The junior earns the award after posting back-to-back double-doubles in wins over Loyola and Holy Cross.
Slagus matched a career-high with 22 points and added 12 rebounds while helping the Bison overcome a 14-point halftime deficit in a 74-69 win at Loyola on Wednesday. She followed that with an 18-point, 10-rebound performance in a 72-63 home win over Holy Cross on Saturday. They were the 20th and 21st double-doubles of her career.
Slagus averages 12.0 points and 8.3 rebounds through 26 games. For her career, she has tallied 952 points, putting her 48 away from becoming the 23rd player in program history to reach the 1,000-point plateau.
The Patriot League Player of the Week honor is the second of the season and sixth career for Slagus.
Bucknell has a pivotal game at Navy on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The teams are tied for second in the Patriot League standings at 12-3 with three games to play.
