LEWISBURG, Pa. – Senior Claire DeBoer has been named the 5th Quarter Fresh Bison Athlete of the Week after leading the Bucknell women’s basketball team to a pair of big wins in conference play last week. She led a balanced effort as the Bison opened with a 67-64 win over Navy and a 60-56 win at defending Patriot League champion Army West Point to improve to 10-3 overall and 2-0 in the conference.

DeBoer’s best game of the week came in the win over Army, as Bucknell ended the Black Knights’ 22-game home winning streak that dated back to March 9, 2015. The senior captain recorded her third double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds to help the Bison win in West Point for the first time since 2011.

DeBoer also had a solid all-around performance in the win over Navy, tallying 14 points, six rebounds, and four assists. She has scored in double-figures in 11 of 13 games this season.

With Army’s loss at Christl Arena, Bucknell now has the longest home winning streak in the Patriot League with 17 straight victories at Sojka Pavilion. The Bison will try to make it 18 straight wins at home when they host American for an 11 a.m. tip-off on Thursday. The Eagles are 5-8 overall and 2-0 in the league following a 68-57 win over Colgate.

The Bison are 19-1 in league games over the past two seasons. That is the best record in the Patriot League during that span, with Army West Point right behind them with a record of 18-2.
