LEWISBURG, Pa. -- On the strength of league championships in women's cross country and women's soccer, Bucknell has taken the lead in the race for the Patriot League Presidents' Cup at the conclusion of the fall season.

With seven fall sports now in the books, Bucknell has accumulated 43.25 points. Lehigh is second with 39.5, followed by Navy (35.5), Boston University (35), Army West Point (32.75), Holy Cross (31.5), American (30.75), Colgate (30.5), Lafayette (20.75) and Loyola (16.75).

Bucknell is also in the lead in the Women's Cup race with 28.75 points. Navy is second with 25.5.

In addition to the Patriot League titles in women's cross country and women's soccer -- the third straight title for women's cross country and second straight for women's soccer -- the Bison field hockey team advanced to the Patriot League championship game, and men's soccer finished in third place in the regular season. Men's cross country finished in fifth place at the Patriot League Championship, volleyball moved up two spots in the standings from last year with a sixth-place finish, and the football team also finished in sixth place.

Bucknell is gunning for its 19th Presidents' Cup title dating back to the league's inception as an all-sports conference in 1990-91. Presidents’ Cup points are awarded based on a team’s performances in the regular and post-season Patriot League standings. In cross country, golf, rowing, swimming and diving, and track and field, the points are awarded based on the final team finish at the Patriot League Championship. Points for football are based on regular-season standings.
