LEWISBURG, Pa. – Backed by Patriot League championships in men’s basketball and women’s indoor track and field, along with top-four showings in each of the other winter sports, Bucknell has maintained its lead in the 2017-18 Presidents’ Cup standings.
In the overall Cup standings, Bucknell has 93.5 points, which is 6.5 better than second-place Navy (87). Army West Point is third with 76.75 points, followed by Lehigh (76), Boston University (68.5), American (55), Holy Cross (52.25), Colgate (51), Loyola Maryland (39.75) and Lafayette (36.75).
Bucknell also sits in first place in the Men’s Cup and Women’s Cup standings. The Bison have accrued 39.5 points in men’s sports, with Navy, Boston University and Lehigh all tied for second with 35. Bucknell has 54 points in the Women’s Cup chase, which is two more than Navy.
In addition to the Patriot League championships in men’s basketball and women’s indoor track and field, Bucknell finished in third place in men’s indoor track and field and men’s swimming and diving, and in fourth place in women’s swimming and diving. Women’s basketball placed second in the regular season before falling in the semifinals of the Patriot League Tournament.
Patriot League Presidents’ Cup points are awarded based on the combination of a team’s finish in the regular and postseason Patriot League standings. In cross country, golf, rowing, swimming and diving and track and field, the points are awarded based on the final team finish at the Patriot League Championship. Points for football are based on regular-season standings.
Bucknell has won the overall title 18 times in the Patriot League’s 27-year history. Navy has captured the last four Presidents’ Cup titles.
