LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Bucknell finished in second place among the 10 Patriot League institutions in the final 2017-18 Presidents' Cup standings, the league announced on Thursday. Backed by championships in women's soccer, women's cross country, women's indoor track and field, and men's basketball, along with a co-regular-season championship in men's lacrosse, the Bison produced 149 points across the 24 league-sponsored sports. That is Bucknell's second-highest point total since the league expanded to 10 full-time members in 2013-14. Navy captured this year's Presidents' Cup title with a record 167.5 points.

In the 28-year history of the Patriot League, Bucknell has won the Presidents' Cup 18 times and has been the runner-up seven times. The Bison have finished in third place on three occasions and have never placed lower than third.

Lehigh came in behind Navy and Bucknell with 134.75 points, followed by Army West Point (131.5), Boston University (124.5), Colgate (80.75), Holy Cross (79), Loyola (75.25), American (62), and Lafayette (57.75).

Bucknell also finished second to Navy in both the Men's Cup and Women's Cup standings.

Presidents' Cup points are awarded based upon a combination of an institution's regular-season and tournament finishes in each sport. If there is no Patriot League tournament (football), points are awarded based upon final regular-season standings. If there is no regular-season competition and the champion is determined by a Patriot League Championship (cross country, golf, rowing, swimming and diving, track and field), points are awarded based upon final tournament standings. If all teams compete in the Patriot League Tournament and there is a regular-season competition (basketball, tennis), points are awarded based on an average of final regular-season standings and tournament finish. If all teams do not participate in the Patriot League Tournament and there is a regular-season competition (baseball, field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, softball and volleyball), points are awarded based upon an average of final season standings and Tournament finish. For those teams not participating in the tournament, the final regular-season standing are used.
