LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Bucknell junior attackman Will Sands was one of 50 men's lacrosse players named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List on Tuesday evening. The award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are made up of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by The Tewaaraton Foundation.
Sands is off to an outstanding start in 2017. In four games he has six goals and 15 assists for 21 points. He leads the Patriot League in both assists and points, and he ranks third and 13th nationally in those two categories.
With his junior season just getting going, Sands already has 127 career points on 68 goals and 59 assists. His assist total is tied for ninth all-time at Bucknell, and he is 16 shy of joining the top-10 chart for career points.
Sands, who was an Inside Lacrosse Honorable Mention Preseason All-American, is one of 13 juniors on the list of 50, and he is one of six from the Patriot League.
The Bison are off to a 2-2 start this season, and they will play at Navy on Saturday.
