Mike Weick joined the Bison staff as linebackers coach in the spring of 2017. He also serves as the program's recruiting coordinator.
During his first season at Bucknell, Weick mentored a pair of First Team All-Patriot League selections in Mark Pyles and Ben Richard. The duo helped the Bison rank fourth nationally in passing defense (148.3) and 11th in total defense (294.6), combining for 150 tackles, 14 tackles for a loss of 56 yards and six sacks. Pyles, who finished second to Richard on the team in tackles, was also recognized on the Academic All-Patriot League Team, CoSIDA Academic All-District 2 squad and FCS ADA Academic All-Star Team for his excellence in the classroom. In addition, Simeon Page was honored on the All-Patriot League Second Team after setting a Bucknell rookie record with nine sacks, including a nation’s best four in the season finale at Fordham.
Before joining the Bison staff, Weick spent five years at Salve Regina, including the last two as defensive coordinator and linebackers coach. The team went 17-4 while he was defensive coordinator, and his unit led the conference in scoring defense and sacks while placing five players on the all-league team during his final campaign.
Weick served as Salve Regina’s special teams coordinator, defensive backs coach and recruiting coordinator from 2012-14. In 2014, return specialist Alex Hulme averaged 31.7 yards per kickoff return, the sixth-best mark in the country. In 2013, his punt rush units led the nation at all levels with seven blocks. In 2012, the Salve return units combined for six special teams touchdowns on the year, and the punt rush unit blocked five punts. Phil Terio was named the 2012 NEFC Return Specialist of the Year, which led to All-America honors.
After the 2012 season, Weick attended the American Football Coaches Association national convention held in Nashville, Tennessee and was selected as a member of the 2013 Future Football Coaches Academy. He was one of 31 young coaches in all divisions to participate in the professional development and networking academy.
Prior to his time at Salve Regina, Weick spent a year as the linebackers coach and co-strength and conditioning coordinator at Susquehanna. He started his coaching career as the inside linebackers coach at King’s College (Pa.).
Weick was a four-year starter and 2009 team captain at McDaniel College. He finished his career ranked in the program’s top five in solo tackles and total tackles. A two-time All-Centennial Conference linebacker and a 2009 preseason All-American, he was also named McDaniel College’s Athlete of the Year following his senior season.
Weick graduated in May 2010 with a degree in exercise science with a minor in education and sports coaching.
