>> Friday’s PL Tournament semifinal game will mark the 22nd meeting between the Bison and Eagles. Bucknell is 6-14-1 in the all-time series.
>> The two teams last competed on Oct. 22, with American winning a 3-2 decision in overtime.
>> Bucknell and American traded a pair of goals in regulation, until the Eagles scored the golden goal 42 seconds into overtime to secure the win in Lewisburg. Patrick Mahoney and Zack Rockmore scored for the Bison, while Joel Hart, Panos Nakhid and Danny Kaiser found the back of the net for the Eagles.
>> The Bison and Eagles last competed in the Patriot League Tournament in 2013, as the Bucknell won a 3-1 decision in the quarterfinals.
About the Eagles
>> American won the regular season title with a record of 10-5-4 overall and 7-1-1 in the Patriot League.
>> The Eagles are ranked second in the NSCAA Northeast Region poll, while receiving four votes in the national poll.
>> American is outscoring its opponents 36-23 this season. Joe Iraola leads the team with 17 points on six goals and five assists. Dale Ludwig, the Patriot League Midfielder of the Year, is second with 12 points, posting five goals and two assists.
>> Panos Nakhid was named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year, as a total of five Eagles made All-Patriot League teams, including Michael Cherry (First Team), Jake Garcia (Second Team) and Lucas Belanger (Third Team).
Bison Knock Out Terriers in Quarterfinals
>> Bucknell defeated fourth-seeded Boston University in PKs on Tuesday, with the Bison winning the shootout 4-1.
>> Quinn Bredin scored his first collegiate goal in the contest, flicking in a header in the 18th minute. The Terriers scored the equalizer in the 79th minute, forcing extra minutes.
>> Ryan Ott made five saves in the game, including a stop in the 103rd minute to force PKs. He made a key stop in the opening round of penalties.
>> Sebastiaan Blickman, Austin Lenart, Tyler Peterson and Rockmore each converted on their penalty kicks in the shootout.
Patriot League Tournament History
>> Bucknell is 7-7-7 all-time in the Patriot League Tournament.
>>The seven “ties” were decided by penalty kicks. The Bison are 5-2 in PKs, most recently winning their quarterfinal contest at Boston University on Tuesday.
>> Bucknell is comfortable playing as a lower seed, as the team won the Patriot League title in 2014 as the No. 5 seed.
>> The Bison have won league titles in 2006, 2009, 2010 and 2014.
>> Bucknell has played in the Patriot League championship game five times. In addition to the four wins in 2006, 2009, 2010 and 2014, Bucknell fell to Army 4-2 in overtime in 1993.
