ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Bucknell men's swimming & diving records fell in two events on the second day of the Patriot League Championships at Navy's Lejeune Hall.

After nearly breaking the school record in the 200 IM preliminaries, Matt McGoey became the first Bison to time in at faster than 1:48 in the finals. The sophomore touched the wall in a blistering 1:47.84 to place fourth, Bucknell's best individual finish of the day.

Chris Devlin, Chadd Cummings, Jacob Lubinski and Charlie McFarland then bested the school record in the 400 medley relay by nearly two seconds. They clocked in at 3:16.51 to place third; on Wednesday, the quartet posted Bucknell's second-fastest time in the 200 medley relay (1:29.78) en route to a third-place finish.

The Bison, who qualified seven swimmers for Thursday's finals, are currently fourth in the team standings with 148 points. Through the first 14 events, Navy (371.5), Army West Point (263) and Boston University (153.5) are the top three teams.

Mitch Gavars and Mitch Buccalo also etched their names in the Bucknell annals. Gavars entered a tie for seventh (4:30.12) in the 500 freestyle while Buccalo took 10th (1:51.27) in the 200 IM. Garvars's time was good for 11th in the finals while Buccalo, who cracked the top 10 in the preliminaries, ultimately finished 14th in the finals with a time of 1:51.55.

Devlin won the 200 IM's consolation final, recording a time of 1:48.35 that would have slotted him fourth if he wasn't already second (1:48.02).

Bucknell's other scorers were McFarland (11th, 50 freestyle), Matt Rakovec (12th, 500 freestyle) and Sam Rutan (16th, 500 freestyle).

The Patriot League Championships continue tomorrow. Preliminaries begin at 10 a.m. with the finals following at 6 p.m.
