About NCAA East Preliminary Meet
* In order to qualify for the NCAA East Preliminary Meet, an athlete's mark must be among the top-48 in their region.
* The top 12 competitors from each event will advance to the NCAA Championships, which will be held in Eugene, Oregon, on June 7-10.

NCAA Qualifiers
Matthew Fay – Pole Vault
First Round (Thursday, 4:30 p.m.)

Fay looks to continue a strong outdoor campaign when he makes his first appearance at the NCAA East Preliminary Meet. The sophomore enters with the 28th best mark in pole vault, which he posted in a first-place finish at the Bucknell Team Challenge. Fay set the school record with a mark of 16-9 ¼, beating the previous mark recorded by Dave Pomfret in 2000. At last weekend's IC4A Championships, the All-Patriot League honoree cleared the mark again en route to a second-place finish, earning his first All-East citation.

Luke Giugliano – 10,000-meter
Semifinal (Thursday, 9:40 p.m.)

Giugliano caps off a strong senior season with a trip to Lexington for the NCAA East Preliminary Meet. The senior captain's qualifying time of 29:52.01 came at the Bison Outdoor Classic. Giugliano earned his first All-Patriot League citation at this year's outdoor championships, earning the silver medal in the race. In addition to his success on the track, he is a four-time Academic All-Patriot League selection.

Nicholas Lombardo – Long Jump
First Round (Thursday, 4:30 p.m.)

Lombardo will compete at the NCAA East Preliminary Meet for the second straight season and for the first time in the long jump. His qualifying mark in the long jump came last weekend at the IC4A Championships, recording a leap of 24-6 ½ en route to a first-place finish, becoming the sixth Bison and the first since Leonard Joseph in 2013 to win an individual title at the postseason meet. The leap was a personal record and is the second-best mark in Bison history. Lombardo won the indoor and outdoor long jump at the Patriot League Championships, receiving Field Athlete of the Meet recognition on both occasions, joining Ron Hess (1999) in earning Patriot League Athlete of the Meet accolades in the same indoor and outdoor season.

Quote from Head Coach Kevin Donner
“These three men have worked extremely hard and have competed very well this outdoor season and we are thrilled that they made the national championships,” said coach Donner. “Nick has experience from the meet last year which should help him a lot.  Matt is only a sophomore and this will kick start a great career and Luke has just trained his tail off and has stayed healthy and is really ready to prove himself at this level.”

Bucknell at the NCAA Championships
* This is the 10th consecutive year that Bucknell has earned at least one NCAA Regional qualifier.
* Bucknell has sent at least three athletes to the Preliminary Meet every season dating back to 2013.
* Seven Bison (Thomas McLean, George Buckheit, Rick Sayre, Bill Reifsnyder, Jim Heizman, Ted Heitzman and Leonard Joseph) have earned All-America recognition.
