LEWISBURG, Pa. – For the second consecutive year, Bucknell graduate Luke Giugliano ‘17 earned College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America honors, announced by the organization on Friday. A Third Team selection last season, Giugliano landed a spot on this year's First Team.

Giugliano is the third Bucknell student-athlete in the 2016-17 academic year to earn Academic All-America recognition, joining Alexis Gannon ‘17 and Kendall Ham '18 of women's soccer. Bucknell has now earned 132 all-time Academic All-America citations.

A mechanical engineering major with a 3.96 GPA, Giugliano is the third Bison from his sport and the first since Ron Hess (1999-2000) to earn consecutive Academic All-America honors. The other Bison to receive back-to-back recognition is Matt Deardorff in 1991 and 1992.

A four-year Patriot League Academic Honor Roll member, Giugliano is a four-time Academic All-Patriot League honoree and a recipient of the Alvin F. Jackson Scholar-Athlete Award, presented to a senior athlete who through his/her actions has demonstrated outstanding academic and athletic achievement and future promise as Bucknell alumni.

A 2017 NCAA Regional qualifier, Giugliano is a two-time All-East performer in the 5,000-meter and a Second Team All-Patriot League selection in the 10,000m.
