PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Schuylkill River) – The Bucknell women’s rowing team’s varsity eight, second varsity eight and varsity four competed at the Patriot League Championship on Friday, but three additional boats were in action at the prestigious Dad Vail Regatta. The Bison freshman eight, freshman four and Sabine Sellers in a single competed on the Schuylkill River and came away with two victories in heats.

Sellers won her heat to advance to Saturday’s finals. She beat out a competitor from Carnegie Mellon by more than 15 seconds. Her final is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday.

The freshman eight also won its heat, beating second-place Saint Joseph’s by more than seven seconds. The boat will now race in Saturday’s semifinal at 7:57 a.m. aiming for a berth in the 1:40 p.m. final.

The freshman four was also in action on Friday and finished in fourth place in its heat. The top three boats advanced to the semifinal.

A third Bucknell boat will be in action on Saturday as the third varsity eight is already in the 2:30 p.m. final as the event did not have any heats.
