HAMDEN, Conn. - On the final day of the Quinnipiac Invitational, the Bucknell women's tennis squad took home two flight titles. Freshman Tania Varela (Quito, Ecuador/Alliance Academy) dropped Amanda El-Tobgy of Seton Hall in a straight set tiebreaker, 6-3, 7-6-1 to claim the Flight B singles title.

In the semifinals of the Flight A doubles, sophomore Paulina Gamboa (Mexico City, Mexico/Greengates) and freshman Carlin Calcaterra (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale) fell to Pascaline Cette and Alice Chen of UMBC, 3-8. The duo of sophomore Ashley Globerman (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown) and Varela beat Seton Hall's Amanda El-Tobgy and Iva Gyurgina 8-4 in the semifinals and defeated Cette and Chen, 8-1 in the finals to claim the Flight A doubles title.

Sophomores JoAnna Grossman (Florham, N.J./Hanover Park) and Tiffany Card (Little Silver, N.J./Red Bank Regional) dropped their Flight B semifinal match to Stony Brook's Monica Myers and Victoria Vasile, 2-8.

The Bucknell women's tennis team will be back in action Friday, Sept. 29, when they host the Bucknell Invitational beginning at 3 p.m. in Lewisburg, Pa.
