EASTON, Pa. - Bison women's tennis bumped up its Patriot League record to 2-1 with a solid 5-2 road win over Lafayette on Sunday, April 2, at the Sullivan Courts in Easton, Pa.

Bucknell clinched the doubles point with wins from senior Veronica Brown (Derwood, Md./Colonel Zadok Magruder) and freshman Paulina Gamboa (Mexico City, Mexico/Greengates) at the No. 1 spot, 8-4, while the freshmen duo of JoAnna Grossman (Florham Park, N.J./Red Bank Regional) and Ashley Globerman (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown) captured a victory in the No. 3 position.

In singles play, it was Brown who won the first match quite handily, at the No. 1 spot, over Chez Saricas, 6-0, 6-1. Gamboa nabbed the next point in the No. 3, defeating Julia Strang, 6-1, 6-0, while Globerman (No. 4) won the deciding match point from Lauren Clarke, 6-0, 6-4.

Senior Chelsea Mills (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) went on to win her match in the No. 2, 6-1, 6-4, but Globerman had already sealed the win for the Orange and Blue.

The Bison will try to carry the momentum they gained from this match into Friday's contest against Duquesne. The match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m., in Lewisburg, Pa.
