LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell’s Brittany Willwerth was named the Patriot League Field Hockey Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday. The freshman forward has earned the award four times this season, tying her with Kiersten Sydnor for the program record set in 2012.

Willwerth scored the game-tying goal in the 51st minute as Bucknell erased a 2-0 halftime deficit on its way to a 4-3 win at Columbia on Sunday. Stephanie Dressler, who was tabbed as an Honorable Mention Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday, assisted on the goal.

Willwerth leads all freshmen in the Patriot League with five goals. She has added one assist to give her 11 points.

The goal on Sunday was the first in 10 games for Willwerth, who had an outstanding start to her collegiate career. She scored four times in the first four games while earning Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors in each of the first three weeks of the season.

Up next for Bucknell is a must-win game against Lafayette as it attempts to qualify for the Patriot League Tournament for the ninth consecutive season under head coach Jeremy Cook. The game is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Graham Field.
