LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell received three of the four Patriot League Field Hockey weekly awards Monday after a 2-0 week with one-goal wins over Holy Cross and Lock Haven. Senior Emily Finn was named the Goalkeeper of the Week, junior Lexi Quick was tabbed as the Defensive Player of the Week, and freshman Leah Fogelsanger picked up Rookie of the Week recognition.
Finn made 12 saves and allowed two goals in two victories last week, including a 2-1 win over Holy Cross to clinch a Patriot League Tournament berth. The senior made eight stops, allowing just one goal in the victory over the Crusaders on Saturday. She made four more saves, allowing just one goal in a 2-1 victory against Lock Haven on Sunday.
Fogelsanger scored the game-winner with just 15 seconds left on the clock against Lock Haven, knocking a loose ball past the goalie for her second goal of the season. It was the first game-winning goal of her career.
Quick, helped Finn with the defensive effort while also contributing an assist in each game. She assisted on the game-winning goal by M.C. Evans with 1:21 remaining in regulation of the win over Holy Cross, and then assisted on Nicole Rupnik’s go-ahead goal early in the win over the Bald Eagles.
Bucknell is 8-8 overall and 3-2 in the Patriot League after winning five of its past six games. The Bison close the regular season with road games at Boston University on Saturday and at Yale on Sunday.
