LEWISBURG, Pa. – Two Bucknell field hockey players were voted to the Academic All-Patriot League Team, which was released by the conference office on Wednesday. Junior Nicole Rupnik earned the award for the second straight year, while sophomore Marisa Morakis received the honor in her first year of eligibility.

Rupnik, a biology major with a 3.89 GPA, becomes the sixth Bucknell player to earn multiple Academic All-PL nods. She is a two-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and the NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad. She has also been named an NFHCA Scholar of Distinction for posting a 4.0 GPA during the competition season.

Rupnik has three goals on the season, including one in each of the last two wins of the regular season against Lock Haven and Yale. She has provided consistent offensive production for the Bison during her career, totaling 39 points on 18 goals and three assists.

Morakis has posted a perfect 4.0 GPA as a biomedical engineering major and is just the fifth Bucknell players to be named Academic All-Patriot League as a sophomore. After last season, she earned NFHCA Scholar of Distinction, NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad, and Patriot League Academic Honor Roll honors.

Morakis has been a driving force in leading a Bucknell defensive effort that allowed just nine goals in six Patriot League games. Offensively, she tallied 10 points on two goals and six assists.

Fourteen Bucknell players have combined for 23 Academic All-Patriot League honors since the award was introduced in 2010.

The Bison will be the No. 3 seed in the Patriot League Tournament and open against No. 2 seed American on Friday at Boston University. The semifinal game is scheduled for 3 p.m.
