LEWISBURG, Pa. – A pair of Bucknell defensive players, senior Stephanie Dressler and junior Lexi Quick, were voted First Team All-Patriot League in field hockey, and senior goalie Emily Finn and sophomore forward Brittany Willwerth were named to the Second Team on Tuesday.
Those four players played a key role as Bucknell qualified for the Patriot League Tournament for a 10th consecutive season, posting an overall record of 9-9 and a league mark of 3-3. The Bison will be the No. 3 seed and will play No. 2 seed American at Boston University in the semifinal round on Friday at 3 p.m.
Dressler was a unanimous First Team selection, anchoring a defense that allowed just nine goals in six Patriot League games, including one goal or less in five of the games. She also plays an integral role on the team’s penalty corner offense, tallying 11 points on five goals and one assist.
The Bison are 5-0 when Dressler scores this season. Her first three goals were game-winners, while the last two were the first goals in games the team went on to win by one.
Quick has played a similar role for the Bison, helping lead the defensive effort and contributing offensively on the penalty corner. After two seasons with an injury or recovering from an injury while also playing multiple positions, she has settled in nicely on the back line. Additionally, she ranks second on the team in offensive production with 17 points on five goals and seven assists.
The defensive accolades continued for Bucknell with Finn’s selection to the Second Team. The goalkeeper allowed one goal or less in nine games while posting a goals against average of 2.29, which ranks second in the Patriot League. She has moved into eighth in program history with 21 wins, ninth with 235 career saves, and ninth with six shutouts.
Willwerth’s Second Team selection is impressive considering her production came in 12 games overall and two league contests before suffering a season-ending injury. Despite missing the time, she still leads the team with 20 points on seven goals and six assists. In back-to-back wins over Columbia and LIU Brooklyn, Willwerth combined for five goals and two assists while earning Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week recognition.
Willwerth earned Second Team honors for a second consecutive season. For her career, she has 32 points on 12 goals and eight assists, and has received two Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week awards.
Bucknell has now had multiple First Team All-Patriot League honorees in all 10 seasons with Jeremy Cook as head coach.
