LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell women’s lacrosse head coach Randall Swope has welcomed 10 newcomers to the Bison squad this fall. The class includes players from six different states, including three from New Jersey and two apiece from Maryland and Pennsylvania.
“I am very excited about what this year's incoming class is bringing to our program,” commented Swope. “It is a very well-balanced group whose high school and club accolades speak for themselves. From the finishers, to the draw, to the tough one-on-one defense, I am very happy with how this group has developed and they are ready to make their impression in our program.”

Jessie Britton | Defender | Moorestown, N.J. | Moorestown

Swope on Britton: “Jessie's 1v1 footwork is very strong and she is so intelligent on the field. She plays tough and is no nonsense, communicates very well, and gets the job done on defense. I'm really looking forward to watching her mix into our defensive unit.”
Avani Chopra | Defender | Danville, Pa. | Danville Area
Before Bucknell: Graduated from nearby Danville Area High School … three-year lacrosse team captain … two-year member of Daily Item All-Star Team … two-time CSGL League First-Team All-Star … CSGL League Honorable Mention All-Star as a sophomore … U.S. Lacrosse All-Academic Team member … four-time MVP of field hockey team … field hockey team captain as a senior … helped lacrosse team to three consecutive league titles, including three straight undefeated regular seasons … helped Danville become the first District IV girls lacrosse team to defeat a District II opponent … member of the first Danville girls lacrosse team in 2013 … played club lacrosse with Midwestern Force.

Swope on Chopra: “Avani has a great story in that she is the first player from the local area to play here at Bucknell and at the Division I level. She works very hard and elevates her game each day. I'm excited to watch her develop as a defender at the college level.
Sarah Dohler | Midfielder | Owings Mills, Md. | McDonogh
Before Bucknell: Four-year member of volleyball, track and field and lacrosse teams at McDonogh High School … lacrosse team captain … named Defensive Player of the Year … named All-Metro … Coaches Award recipient … played club with M&D Lacrosse … volleyball team captain and Coaches Award recipient … track & field team captain … all-conference selection … two-time Coaches Award recipient.

Swope on Dohler: “Sarah is an extremely smart defender who can also run the midfield and start off transition well. Her stick is strong, which makes her a threat up the field, and with the possession clock in place this becomes a crucial component. Sarah brings excellent knowledge of the game from her experiences starting on both McDonogh and with M&D Black. I am anticipating very good things out of her in her four years as a Bison.”
Annie Echeverria | Attacker | Severna Park, Md. | Severna Park
Before Bucknell: Graduated from Severna Park High School in 2016 … member of indoor track, field hockey and lacrosse teams … two-time Brine Lacrosse All-American … helped lacrosse team to two state titles … played club lacrosse with Maryland United 2016 East … field hockey team captain in 2013 … helped field hockey team to three state championships … placed 11th in the state of Maryland in the 55-meter hurdles … Minds in Motion Student-Athlete Top Scholar.
Personal: Anna Grace Echeverria … born Sept. 8, 1998 in Annapolis, Maryland … daughter of Alfredo Echeverria and Nina McNealey … has two siblings, Maddie and Lily … aunt, Claire Bowersox, was a member of the women’s lacrosse team at Boston College … majoring in civil engineering.
Swope on Echeverria: “Annie brings good experiences with her to us from her success at Severna Park High School. She charges the goal hard and has a great first and second step out of her dodge. Her stick is strong and her shot selection even stronger. I'm excited to see the elements she brings to our offense this year.”
Kate Fiore | Midfielder | Darien, Conn. | Darien
Before Bucknell: Earned varsity letters in soccer, basketball and lacrosse at Darien High School … team captain of soccer and basketball squads as a senior … member of Under Armour 2016 Uncommitted Team … Third Team Lower New England … 2015 FCIAC Fall Soccer Player of the Year … helped lacrosse team to consecutive FCIAC and Connecticut Class-L state titles in 2013 and 2014 … played club lacrosse with CT Grizzlies.
Personal: Kate Fiore … born Jan. 9, 1998 in New York City … daughter of John and Lucy Fiore … has a younger sister, Christine, who is committed to play women’s lacrosse at Navy.

Lillie Hunt | Attacker | Cazenovia, N.Y. | Christian Brothers Academy

Swope on Klaber: “Sophia has turned out to be a very strong two-way midfielder, having started off as a defender. She is in incredible shape and her stick skills are sharp. She makes very smart decisions with the ball, which of course is critical through the midfield with the addition of the possession clock going into this year. I am very excited to watch her influence our transition game moving forward.”
Morgan Steinhacker | Midfielder | Fair Haven, N.J. | Rumson-Fair Haven

I anticipate that Morgan will make a lasting impression on the program this year and in the years to come.”
Tace Sutherland | Midfielder | Winnetka, Ill. | New Trier
Before Bucknell: Earned three letters in lacrosse at New Trier High School … three-year varsity starter … team captain as a senior … named an All-American as a senior … named all-conference and all-state as both a junior and senior … third on team in draw controls (21) and points (49) as a senior … helped team to three-year record of 60-9-1 and three top-three finishes in the state, including a pair of runner-up finishes … team was conference champion three times … played with Lakeshore Lacrosse Club, Illinois Elite Lacrosse Club and Chicago Elite Lacrosse Club.

Tegan Warren | Attacker | Bernardsville, N.J. | Bernards
