NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Lindsay Dodovich posted a 3-over-par 74 and Katie Childers followed with a 76 on Friday to lead the Bucknell women's golf team in the first of three rounds at the Yale Invitational. The Bison compiled a 313 team aggregate and sit in 15th place heading into Saturday's second round.
Bucknell started the tournament on the 10th hole, and after opening with a bogey, Dodovich played her next nine holes in even par. She finished the day with two birdies, coming at holes 17 and 4, and 11 pars.
It was a tale of two nines for Childers. After a double-bogey at the difficult par-5 18th left her at 6-over for the tournament, Childers proceeded to come home in 1-under over her her final nine holes of the day. She birdied 4 and 6 to highlight an eight-hole stretch where she made two birdies and six pars.
Dodovich is tied for 18th place on the individual leaderboard, while Childers is T-30th.
Anna Dailey, playing as an individual, started her day with six straight pars and made 10 pars and five bogeys in her round, but three holes proved costly en route to an 87.
Stirling University of Scotland has the team lead after posting a 1-over 285. Boston College is second at 294, followed by Charlotte and Lamar at 296. Boston University, the only other Patriot League school in the field, shot 306 and sits in 11th place.
Six players shot even par or better on Friday, led by Stirling's Hazel MacGarvie at 3-under 68. Lamar's Elodie Chapelet and Delaware's Isabella Rimton are two shots back.
Round two gets underway Saturday morning at The Course at Yale.
