Dec. 17, 2008
![]() LEWISBURG, Pa. - After more than a week of inactivity due to the final exams break, the lights come back on in Sojka Pavilion and Davis Gym this weekend, as the Bucknell men's and women's basketball and wrestling teams all return to competition at home. The Bison men's basketball team, coming off a three-point win over Binghamton just before the break, hosts Drexel on Saturday evening at 5 p.m. at Sojka Pavilion. That game, which will follow a high school basketball tripleheader that begins at 10 a.m. in Sojka, will be televised by the Pennsylvania SportsFever Television Network. The game will air live on WQMY My Television in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre market and WHP digital channel 21.2 (Comcast 249) in Harrisburg/Lancaster/York. The Bucknell women's basketball team hosts Wofford on Friday at 7 p.m. The Fifth Annual "Dirk Sojka's Slam Dunk with Bison Basketball" event will surround both the men's and women's games this weekend. A silent auction and raffle ticket sales will begin at the women's game on Friday, with winners announced at halftime of Saturday's men's games. The top prize in the raffle is a $1,000 Visa check card, while other prizes include cash and the use of a Sojka Pavilion suite at a future Bucknell game. Local radio personality Drew Kelly and members of the 94.1 WQKX staff will compete in skills challenges against the Bucknell athletics staff throughout the Bucknell-Drexel men's game on Saturday. The event benefits Suncom Industries, Inc., a private, non-profit organization providing services to adults with disabilities to help reach their potential within the community. It is held in memory of Gary and Sandy Sojka's son, Dirk, who passed away 2001 and had attended Suncom for 11 years. Both basketball games this weekend will also air live on Bison Vision, via BucknellBison.com. The Bison wrestling team also gets back in action on Friday with three duals against Drexel, Cleveland State and Wagner beginning at noon. Admission is free for the full day of wrestling action. |
