Todd Newcomb, a 1988 Bucknell graduate, is in his 10th year as a member of the Bucknell staff and his eighth as Associate Director of Athletics for External Affairs and Director of the Bison Club. After two years as the department's director of athletic communications, Newcomb now focuses his efforts towards this important position within the department. He is responsible for managing and directing the department's fundraising, development and alumni relations programs. He works closely with the Development and Alumni Relations staff and is responsible for coordinating annual, planned, capital and special gifts for the department of athletics and recreation. Under Newcomb's watch, the Bison Club topped the $1 million mark in donations for the first time in 2003-04, then upped that total to more than $1.25 million in 2004-05 and over $1.5 million in each of the last three years. In addition to his athletics development responsibilities, Newcomb supervises the Bison baseball and men's and women's water polo programs. While the director of athletic communications, Newcomb served as the primary contact for the Bison football program and oversaw all publicity and media relations for the school's Division I athletics program. Under his direction, recruiting brochures for all sports were redesigned and produced in an 8 1/2 x 11 format for the first time. The Bucknell football and men's and women's basketball media guides were increased in content by over 20 percent. Newcomb also oversaw the transition of the athletic department's Web site from an in-house operation to a partnership with the Official College Sports Network (now CSTV Online). The site has received high praise from Bucknell coaches, student-athletes, alumni and fans. | |||||||||||
