Jon Terry, a 1993 Bucknell graduate, is in his ninth year as Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications. In his capacity, Terry oversees all aspects of media relations, publication design and Web site development for Bucknell's 27-sport athletics program. In 2000-01, Terry completed his sixth year as assistant director of media relations at the U.S. Military Academy, where he served as the primary media contact for the nationally ranked Army men's lacrosse team as well as the Army hockey team. During his tenure at West Point, Terry also worked closely with the Black Knights' women's volleyball, wrestling, tennis and track and field programs, while serving as the media relations director for the Collegiate Sprint Football League. Also a contributing writer for the award-winning Army football game program, Terry has received numerous citations for both his writing and publication design at both Army and Bucknell, including a "Best in the Nation" award for his 2000 Army men's lacrosse guide and a district runner-up honor for his 2005-06 Bucknell men's basketball guide. After graduating from Bucknell with a bachelor of arts degree in geology, Terry served as a sports information assistant at his alma mater from 1993-95. While a student at Bucknell, the Ellicott City, Md., native served as sports editor of The Bucknellian for two semesters and as a staff writer for three others. At Bucknell and West Point, Terry has served in a media relations host capacity for a myriad of NCAA championship events, including the 1997 and 2001 men's lacrosse regional doubleheaders, the 2005 NCAA men's water polo championship, as well as gymnastics, swimming and golf regionals. He coordinated media operations for the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association Championships in 1999 and has overseen a host of conference championship events, including Patriot League men's basketball tournaments at Sojka Pavilion in 2005, 2006 and 2007. Terry is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and ECAC-SIDA, and he is a five-year member of the CoSIDA Academic All-America Committee. Terry and his wife, Carmen, a former athletic trainer at both West Point and Bucknell, reside in Lewisburg. The couple has an eight-year-old son, Dustin, and a five-year-old daughter, Emma. | |||||||||||
