Bucknell Women's Rowing Sweeps Buffalo
April 5, 2008 SHAMOKIN DAM, Pa. (Susquehanna River) - The Bucknell women's rowing team opened up the home portion of its schedule Saturday morning and swept five races from Buffalo on the Susquehanna River. It was the second time in three years the two teams faced each other on the Susquehanna with the Bison winning all five events in 2006 as well. Bucknell easily won each of the five events which were contested Saturday morning (novice four, varsity four, second varsity eight, second varsity four, varsity lightweight eight). Four of its five victories were by at least 15 seconds. The two teams rowed under cloudy, but dry, skies. However, they did face a 2,000-meter course that was against the current, leading to slower-than-normal times. "We are happy Buffalo traveled down here to compete against us," said Bucknell head coach Stephen Kish following the morning races. "We hope we can keep growing this relationship with them." The Bison will compete on Sunday against Dayton, Georgetown, George Washington and MIT in Fairfax, Va.
