Bucknell Women's Rowing Sweeps Five Home Races from MIT, Robert Morris

(Susquehanna River) - The Bucknell women's rowing team, which was picked first in the recent Patriot League Preseason Poll, competed at home on the Susquehanna River for the only time this year on Sunday morning and swept five races from MIT and Robert Morris. The Bison defeated MIT in each of the three eights races, while they won over Robert Morris in both the varsity four and second varsity four. Bucknell started out the day with its varsity eight and second varsity eight finishing one-two. MIT's varsity eight came in third in that race. The Bison novice eight and lightweight eight followed with a one-two finish against MIT's second varsity eight. Bucknell continued its success with wins over Robert Morris in the varsity four and second varsity four. The varsity four race was the closest race of the day as the Bison won by just 1.01 seconds over the Colonials. The second varsity four was a different story as Bucknell won by more than 16 seconds. The final race of the morning was the novice eight and Bucknell completed its sweep with a 2.52-second victory. Each of the rowers in this race had already rowed in an earlier race. The Bison will be back in action on the road next Saturday, April 11, when they travel to Lake Carnegie to face Princeton, Cornell and Radcliffe.
