Bucknell Women's Rowing Holds its Own Against Ranked Opponents

PRINCETON, N.J. (Carnegie Lake) – Less than 24 hours before the Patriot League Championships, the Bucknell women’s rowing team faced a handful of ranked opponents on Saturday. The Bison openweights faced No. 2 Princeton and No. 17 Dartmouth, while the fifth-ranked lightweight eight went up against No. 3 Princeton and No. 4 Radcliffe.
Bucknell competed in seven total races Saturday winning two, the third varsity eight and the second varsity four.
Bucknell finished fourth in the varsity eight race, but the Bison second varsity eight took second, defeating Penn and Dartmouth by more than seven seconds each.
In the lightweight races, the Bison eight was closer to Princeton than its was last year, although it still took third behind the Tigers and Radcliffe. Bucknell was one spot ahead of Radcliffe’s second varsity eight. In the lightweight four, the Bison were second of three boats, finishing behind Princeton, but ahead of Radcliffe.
The Bison conclude their busy weekend Sunday morning at the Patriot League Championships. Bucknell is going for its fifth consecutive title.
