Seven Bucknell Women's Rowing Boats Compete at Head of the Schuylkill Regatta
Oct. 29, 2011
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Schuylkill River) -Seven Bucknell women's rowing boats were in action across four different events at the Head of the Schuylkill on Saturday morning. Two more Bison eights were expected to row in the championship eight race, but the regatta was cut short due to snowy weather that is plaguing the Northeast. Bucknell entered four boats in the novice eight event and all four finished in the top 20 of the 28-boat field. The top finisher was the Bucknell "A" boat that crossed the line third, behind only Penn and Drexel. The Bison open four boat placed 27th in its 38-boat field, while Gabriella Fleming-Shemer was ninth of 16 in the open single, and Caitlin Vogelsang was seventh of 11 in the lightweight single. With the completion of its participation in the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta, Bucknell's fall season is now finished. The Bison will resume competition in the spring with the championship portion of their schedule. Bucknell will be aiming for a seventh consecutive Patriot League title next April.
