Bucknell Women's Rowing to Compete at Dad Vail Regatta Friday and Saturday
May 11, 2006 LEWISBURG, Pa. - Coming off its first-ever Patriot League title, the Bucknell women's rowing team returns to action this weekend at the 68th annual Dad Vail Regatta. The largest collegiate regatta in the United States will take place on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, Pa., and the Bison varsity eight, second varsity eight, varsity four and novice eight boats will all compete. The varsity four will be the first Bucknell boat to compete in Friday's heats, lining up at approximately 8:30 a.m. The varsity eight heats will take place at 11:40 a.m., while the novice eight's heats are just before 5 p.m. The second varsity eight, which will be competing in the junior varsity eight races this weekend, will row at 5:30 p.m. Saturday's schedule features the semifinals and finals with racing scheduled to conclude close to 5 p.m. At last year's Dad Vail Regatta, Bucknell saw its novice eight place fifth in the finals, while the varsity eight took second in the second-level finals. Both showings were the best in the history of the program.
