Bucknell Women's Rowing Places Three on All-Mid-Atlantic Region Team

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Three members of the Bucknell women's rowing team were named to the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) All-Mid-Atlantic Region Team on Wednesday. Seniors Katherine Brewster-Duffy (Stonington, Conn./St. George's School) and Jennie Trayes (Hawley, Pa./Wallenpaupack) were first-team selections, while junior Caitlin Doolin (Pennsauken, N.J./Bishop Eustace) was a second-team choice. The three all-region selections are part of the varsity eight, which earned its third consecutive Boat of the Year honor as it led the Bison to their third straight Patriot League team title. The varsity eight won nine of its 10 races this year, entering the prestigious Eastern Sprints. The varsity eight finished second in the petite final at the Eastern Sprints by just 0.1 seconds to Dartmouth as the Bison placed eighth of 18 in the final team standings. Additionally, the varsity eight has posted wins at the Murphy Cup, Knecht Cup and the ECAC Metro Championships this spring. Trayes, who earned Second Team Academic All-District plaudits last week, rowed primarily in the 8-seat in 2008. Brewster-Duffy held down the 6-seat, while Doolin was in the 2-seat for Bucknell. It is the second consecutive all-region selection for Brewster-Duffy, who was also a first-team choice in 2007 when she was named an All-American. It is the first career all-region honor for Trayes and Doolin. Bucknell has now had seven all-region selections over the last two years. The Bison are ranked third as a team in the Mid-Atlantic Region, guaranteeing them the three all-region choices. Final NCAA rankings are expected to be released in the coming weeks with Princeton and Penn likely joining Bucknell in the top-three positions in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Brewster-Duffy, Doolin and Trayes will all be part of the Bucknell contingent that travels to the Henley Women's Regatta in Henley, England, next month.
