Fall Training & Activities Photo Gallery

The fall has been about choosing to face our challenges head on. First, we stripped away all of the cushioning from last fall's quads and fours and instead focused solely on rowing the single. We gave our bodies the opportunity to learn awareness and balance in an environment that gives the most feedback of any boat. Instead of the usual three or four eights, it was quite a site to see 15 singles out at any given session making their way up and down the river. The team's sculling credo said it best: "We move as a mass of ambitious athletes... improving, preparing, and looking forward to the day when we can bring our skills together to create our collective future."

Second, we were able to develop our strength training regimen faster and better than ever before. We are learning to "believe" in our strength rather than picking up the weights and "hoping" we can find the physical strength; a mindset that will serve us well in tough spring competition.

We are now in the throes of what we call Winter #1. The singles have been replaced by eights, we have added the stadium steps to the program, and the overall focus has shifted to developing our fitness for the spring season. It is a great group of young ladies.

I'll be in touch once again after we return from our winter training trip. Happy Holidays.
