Bucknell Baseball Hosts Non-League Foe Towson Wednesday

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell baseball team currently resides in a tie for first place in the Patriot League standings, but will take a break from conference play as it hosts Towson in a single game at Depew Field on Wednesday afternoon. First pitch is slated for 3:30 p.m. The contest will be broadcast live on 90.5 WVBU in the Lewisburg area and on SportsJuice.com. Bucknell Baseball Notebook (15-19, 7-5 PL) Doug Shribman was 9-for-16 in the four-game series at Holy Cross, lifting his batting average to .339. Andrew Brouse continues to lead the Patriot League in runs batted in (47) and now paces the league with eight home runs after hitting a pair on Monday vs. Holy Cross. The junior resides in sixth place on Bucknell's single-season RBI list, while he is tied for eighth on the single-season home run ledger. Bucknell batters have been hit by a pitch 52 times this year, breaking the program record (51 in 2006). Ben Allen has been hit a team-high 10 times, placing him in a tie for eighth on the Bison single-season list. Bucknell is 8-14 in non-league play this year with just three non-Patriot League contests remaining. The Bison will host Towson on Wednesday and then take on St. Bonaventure in a doubleheader next Wednesday (April 22). Trey Frahler and Chris Yamaguchi have combined for eight of Bucknell's 15 wins this year. Both starting pitchers own a team-best 3.83 ERA. Frahler has two complete games and a 0.98 ERA against Patriot League foes. While Frahler has been one of Bucknell's best starters, the Bison offense has not been behind him. Bucknell is averaging just 2.9 runs per game when Frahler starts. In other games, the Bison are averaging more than eight runs per contest. Bucknell vs. Towson About Towson Towson is hitting .315 as a team and owns a 7.63 team ERA. The Tigers have hit 55 home runs this season, more than double Bucknell's total of 26. Up Next
