Men's Basketball Defeat St. Francis-Pa, 68-62, For Second Victory Of Young Season

Lewisburg, Pa. - The Bucknell men's basketball team used a balanced scoring attack, placing four players in double-figures, to build a 23-point second half lead en route to a 68-62 victory over St. Francis-PA. In the first stanza, Bucknell built a 13-point lead through stingy defense and good outside shooting. The Bison were four-for-eight from behind the three-point arc in the half and recorded four blocks in the period. Sophomore Boakai Lalugba (East Orange, N.J./Bishop Francis Essex Catholic) had three blocks in the half and finished the contest with 12 points. Hitting two three-pointers in the last 1:30 was junior Bryan Bailey (Hempstead, N.Y./South Side) to give Bucknell a 29-16 halftime advantage. Bucknell opened the second half by going on a 15-5 run to build a sizable advantage of 23 points, 44-21. The Red Flash, despite an eight-minute scoreless draught in the first half, used excellent outside shooting to get back in the game. St. Francis was 11-for-15 from behind the three-point arc in the second half, an amazing 73.3% three-point shooting percentage. Sophomore Pete Fox hit three trifecta's in the last minute of play to make the game exciting, finishing with 15 points for the contest. The Orange and Blue resisted the Red Flash barrage of three-pointers with key buckets in the last two minutes of the contest. Bailey, who finished the game with 16 points to lead the Bison, hit two foul shots with 00:13 left to guarantee the victory. Also part of the balanced attack for Bucknell was senior Jake Ramage (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) with 13 points and sophomore Dan Blankenship (Moundsville, W.V./Wheeling Park) tallied 11 points.
The Bucknell men's basketball team will hit the road for it's next contest by traveling to Rutgers for a 7:30 p.m. contest on Saturday, November 25.
