Bucknell's Charles Lee Named Honorable Mention All-American by AP

March 29, 2006

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell senior Charles Lee (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) was named to the Associated Press All-America Team as an Honorable Mention this week. Lee, a two-year co-captain and the 2006 Patriot League Player of the Year, helped lead the Bison to a best-ever 27-5 record, a second straight league title and a second straight trip to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Lee is the first Bucknell player to be named to the AP All-America Team since Jaye Andrews in 1985. Bucknell's last All-American was Mike Butts, who earned honorable mention honors on the 1988 Sporting News All-America Team.

This season Lee led the Bison in scoring at 13.2 points per game, and he was the team's catalyst as it posted an unprecedented 14-0 Patriot League record. He scored in double figures in each of the last 14 games of the season and averaged 16.0 points per game over that span.

Among some of his top clutch late-season performances: Lee tallied a career-high 24 points in a key road victory at Holy Cross; he added 16 in the win over Lehigh that clinched the regular season title; he scored 18 in a win over Army that completed the perfect 14-0 Patriot League run; he produced 16 points in the Patriot League championship game win over Holy Cross; and Lee turned in another brilliant 24-point showing in Bucknell's win over Arkansas in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Lee was named to the Patriot League All-Tournament Team for the third straight season, and he became the first player in league history to be named Tournament MVP twice.

Lee finished the season ranked sixth in the Patriot League in scoring, second in rebounding (6.0), third in steals (2.19), ninth in field-goal percentage (.435), ninth in 3-point percentage (.374) and 10th in assists (2.84).

He will graduate with 1,147 career points, which is good for 21st on Bucknell's all-time scoring list. He ranks 18th on Bucknell's career rebounding chart with 568, making him one of only 15 players in program history to amass 1,000 points and 500 rebounds. Lee also ranks fifth in school history in steals with 167.
