Bucknell Crew Performs Well at Metropolitan Championships

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - Bucknell's men's and women's crew teams enjoyed another impressive outing on Saturday at the Metropolitan Championships, held on the Orchard Beach Lagoon.

For the women's squad, the women's varsity four of junior Lisa Baranik, junior Julie Engel, sophomore Rebecca Newman, Jill Harrington and junior coxswain Nicole Tomlin enjoyed another outstanding regatta, placing first out of 10 crews and winning its fourth straight gold medal to remain undefeated in the spring season.

The women's varsity pair of sophomores Emily Smith and Joan Wendler finishing second among 11 boats as it continued its string of strong showings. Also placing among the top two were the women's novice eight, which came in first and second out of seven crews, and the women's novice four, a boat that took second among nine crews. In addition, the men's varsity four placed fourth among 10 boats.
