  • Consensus Draft Services Preseason FCS All-America Teams
  • LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell football safety Ahkiel White (Somerset, N.J./Franklin) has been named a 2009 Preseason All-American by Consensus Draft Services, it was announced this week. White, who will be a junior next fall, earned honorable mention accolades and was one of seven Patriot League players cited. A total of 183 players from Football Championship Series teams were recognized.

White appeared in all 11 games last year, starting 10, and posted 46 tackles to rank fifth on the team. The two-year letterwinner led the Bison, and ranked tied for sixth in the Patriot League, with two interceptions, picking off passes in home contests against Hofstra and Colgate.

Expected to move to the cornerback position this year, White made a season-high six tackles on three occasions last year (vs. Cornell, Marist, Holy Cross). He was second on the team with three pass breakups.

White will enter 2009 with 98 tackles in his two-year career, while his four career interceptions place him nearly halfway to joining Bucknell's top-10 list.

Bucknell will open its 2009 campaign Sept. 5 at Duquesne. The Bison's home opener is Sept. 12 against Robert Morris at 6 p.m.
