Bison Men's Golf Opens Spring Season at American University
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The Bucknell University men's golf team kicked off its 2002 spring season yesterday when it competed in the first day of the American University Invitational. The Bison posted a team score of 328 and are currently tied for sixth place in a field of 16 teams.
Sophomore Abbie Valentine shot a 78 on the par-72, 6,857-yard course to lead the way for Bucknell. Heading into the final day of competition, Valentine is tied for 15th place out of 86 golfers and six strokes behind overall leader Brian Hollowell of Longwood. Sophomore Scott Leeder shot an 83 on the first day, as did senior Dan Gale. Leeder and Gale are tied for 38th place. Sophomore Charles Markey completed Bucknell's team scoring with an 84. He is tied for 48th. Freshman Alex Dolle also competed but did not figure into the team scoring. With his 88-stroke effort, Dolle is tied for 63rd.
