Men's Golf Squad Finishes 22nd at George Washington Invitational

ISSUE, Md. - Sophomore Jimmy Freeman (Laguna Niguel, Calif./St. Margarets) shot a team-low 80 on the second day of the George Washington Invitational to lead Bucknell to a 22nd place finish of 29 teams at the event. The invitational, Bucknell's first official competition of the spring, was held on Sunday and Monday, April 1-2. As a team, the Bison shot 343 on day one and finished the second day with a team total of 341 to record a two-day total of 684 and finish the tournament 22nd of 29 teams. Individually, Freeman shaved five strokes off of his day one total of 85 to shoot an 80 on the second day and finish tied for 68th of 148 participants. Senior David Horton (Broad Top City, Pa./Tussey Mountain) finished second on the Orange and Blue squad, firing a two-day total of 171 (83-88) to finish in a tie for 96th place individually. Freshman Charles Markey (Southampton, Bermuda/Saltus Grammar School), senior Ken Kosteva (Berwick, Pa./Central Columbia) and junior Nick Leibowitz (Danbury, Conn./Deerfield Academy) rounded out Bucknell's scorecard. Markey finished tied for 103rd with a two-day total of 172 (89-83), while captain Kosteva came in tied for 111th, shooting 86 on the first day and 90 on the second for a 176 total. Leibowitz shot 179 over the two-day tournament (89-90) to finish tied for 121st. Bucknell will compete at the Navy Invitational on Friday-Sunday, April 6-8.
