Bucknell Men's Golf Ties for 6th at IUP Invitational

GREENSBURG, Pa. - Charlie Waddell shot a four-over 76 to lead the Bucknell contingent to a tie for sixth place at the one-day Cecil Spadafora IUP Invitational on Wednesday afternoon at Totteridge Golf Club. Waddell finished in a six-way tie for fifth place in the individual standings, five strokes behind Matt Guyton of Clarion, who beat Dan McCarthy of LeMoyne in a playoff to claim medallist honors. Host IUP won the event with a team score of 307. Clarion (312), West Virginia Wesleyan (313), Millersville (317) and Ohio Valley (317) also finished just ahead of the Bison, who joined Fairmont State and Wheeling Jesuit at 318. The Bison, who rested regular starters Abbie Valentine, Tom Lane and Ben Pellicani with three more tournaments coming up in the next week, got two other scores in the 70s behind Waddell. Kyle Moran shot 78, good for a tie for 14th place, while Alex Dolle tied for 22nd with a 79. Also for Bucknell, Charles Wagner shot 85 and Ryan Hom 87 in their first competitions of the spring.
Bucknell will play at the Lafayette Invitational this Saturday and Sunday in Center Valley, Pa.
