ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Bucknell men's golf team will carry a little momentum into next week's Patriot League Tournament, as the Bison posted the fourth-best score in a 20-team field on the final day of the Navy Spring Invitational on Sunday. Enduring miserable weather conditions, Bucknell closed with a round of 312 and moved up from 14th place at the start of the day into a three-way tie for eighth.

J.J. Szmadzinski was Bucknell's low man in the final round. He shot a 4-over-par 75 to move into a tie for 20th place individually at 152 total. Freshman Pete Scialabba followed up his opening-round 74 with a 78 and also finished at 152.

Schuyler Stitzer finished with a 77, followed by Will Bachman with an 82 and Billy Wright with an 84.

A cold, steady rain and increasing winds sent scores soaring on Sunday. Of the 109 players in the field, only 48 broke 80. Bucknell's 312 team score trailed only Penn (299), Navy (303) and George Washington (306) on Sunday. The Quakers' lineup featured the only two players in the entire field to break par in the final round, and they came from three shots down at the start of the day to post a four-stroke win over George Washington.

Penn's Max Marisco closed with a 1-under 70 to win by one shot over Martin Liu of George Washington. Scott Williams of Penn also fired a 70 on Sunday and took third place at 145 total, two off the lead.

The 2012 Patriot League Championship comes to the Bucknell Golf Club next weekend. The tourney will consist of 36 holes on Saturday and 18 more on Sunday.
