April 23, 2003
RINGOES, N.J. - Sophomore Alex Dolle fired a one-over-par 73 to lead the Bucknell men's golf team to a third-place finish in a 10-team field at the Peacock Invitational, hosted by St. Peter's Tuesday at Heron Glen Golf Course. Despite competing without its top two players - Abbie Valentine and Tom Lane - who had class commitments, the Bison turned in their best 18-hole score of the spring with a 308. Fordham won the event with a score of 298, four strokes in front of runner-up Monmouth. Fairfield took fourth at 311, followed by St. Peter's (318), Lafayette (321), Fairleigh Dickinson (322), Quinnipiac (323), Wagner (337) and Manhattan (338). Dolle matched his career-best round with a 73. He finished in second place, just one shot behind medallist Gabe Allen of Fordham. He was supported by three freshmen who also shot in the 70s. Ben Pellicani and Jordan Leiser each shot 78 and Chris Martinez carded a 79. Brian Troast also competed for Bucknell and shot 82. Bucknell will now prep for the 2003 Patriot League Championship this Saturday and Sunday at Saucon Valley CC in Center Valley, Pa.
