Bucknell Men's Golf Takes Fifth at Colgate/Cornell Invitational

HAMILTON, N.Y. - The Bucknell University men's golf team shot a 318 on the second day of the Cornell/Colgate Invitational at Colgate's Seven Oaks Golf Course this afternoon. The Bison tied for fifth out of 19 teams for the invitational with a two-day total of 632 after the team's 314-stroke performance yesterday at Cornell. Binghamton University shot a 601 to win the team title. Binghamton's Hal Berman was the low medallist with a final score of 146 (74, 72). For the Bison, sophomore Scott Leeder and senior Nick Leibowitz led the way with a team-low 78 on the par-72 course. Leeder, who shot a 77 at Cornell, ended up placing 18th out of 99 competitors with a 155 score, and was Bucknell's top individual finisher. Junior Jimmy Freeman also finished below 80 on the second day, shooting a 79. Sophomore Justin Bretting had another solid outing for the Bison after shooting a team-low 76 yesterday. Bretting recorded an 83 at Colgate to round out the team scoring. He ended up with a 36-hole total of 159, good for 27th place. Also competing was senior Dan Gale, who notched an 85 on the second day. The Bison return to action on Friday and Saturday to host the Bucknell Invitational at the Bucknell University Golf Club.
